New comic book outlines Madonna's rise to fame

Madonna can now add comic book to her list of accomplishments as Bluewater Productions Inc. makes her the latest edition to their "Female Force" series. In honour of her 53rd birthday, the 32-page comic book will touch on every aspect of the material girl s life, starting with her childhood. The early stages of her career, the different music videos, her relationships the movies she s done, things like that. Just pretty much it touches lightly on all those things and gives you a general idea of where she s been throughout her entire life up until this point," said Thor Parker, the marketing and events coordinator for Midtown Comics. While the book is different from typical comics,
the series has found a loyal fan base. "The typically buyer for a series like this is pretty much anybody because we got a lot of regular customers that will pick this up for maybe for their wife or for their girlfriend. Or you know our female costumers, but then also these books get a lot of attention from the press so we got people that aren t normal, average comic book readers they ll come in looking for these types of books," explained Parker.

The "Female Force" comic series is filled with influential women who have shaped modern history and culture.

"These are just, essentially if you boil it down, it s a biography of a celebrity. So there s not a real story as much as it s just kind of giving you facts and dates about these people s lives and things like that," Parker told Reuters.

Others included in the series include Hilary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and Sarah Palin, and later this year the company will release a book for Cher.

Don't count on Russia to force out Assad: US senator

"This administration has a feckless foreign policy which abandons American leadership," McCain said. The U.S. can t count on Russia a major arms supplier to Syria to force President Bashar Assad from power, a U.S. senator said Sunday, blaming President Barack Obama for embracing a "feckless" foreign policy and punting tough decisions until after the November election. It was a particularly sharp rebuke for Sen. John McCain, who as a longtime critic of Obama s foreign policy hasn t pulled many punches. As the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, McCain s viewpoint on complex world events often finds its way into Republican election-year talking points. "This administration has a feckless foreign policy which abandons American leadership," McCain told "Fox News Sunday." "What the conclusion you can draw is that this president wants to kick the can down the road on all of these issues until after the election ... it s really...
