5 more crazy ways to charge your mobile phone

Last week we compiled some of the most innovative and eco-friendly ways to charge a mobile phone. Why stop the fun there? Well, you’ll be pleased to know we haven’t. Below are 5 more great charging techniques utilising the likes of kinetic, solar and friction based charging. Which is your favourite?

1.  Spinning Charger
Although only a concept gadget, the designers Song Teaho & Hyejin Lee were thinking outside the box when they came up with the mobile phone battery charger that works by being spun on your finger. It isn’t designed for long charges but just getting that extra charge when you need to make an urgent call. It’s claimed that approximately 130 spins will generate enough for a 2 minute call.

2.  ViberBurst Concept Charger
The Viber Burst concept charger harnesses the power of motion. So, whether in your bag, your hands or event your shoe, you can charge your phone. The cool thing is it only supposedly takes 2 seconds to transfer the generated energy into your phones battery.

3. Nokia E-CU
We’ve featured the E-Cu before but the fit is too perfect not to do so again. Put the phone in your pocket and start walking. That’s all you need to do to charge this phone as it relies on body heat created by friction from your pocket. Genius!

4. Cube Phone Charger
Designer Zheng Weixi has produced something very simple and very effective with his cube charger. It isn’t even restricted to phones either, most gadgets will get a charge via the USB inside. All you have to do is twist the cube and as you do so you’ll get charge.

5. Solar Rolls
This may sound like some sort of space age sandwich but I assure you it’s a cool piece of tech. Through the use of solar power, you can easily charge your phone. What’s more is the solar rolls are strong, flexible and take up next to no storage space. Try finding a sandwich that does all that ;)

The weather system was expected to continue dumping rain over parts of Florida and Georgia. Tropical Storm Beryl made landfall early Monday in northeast Florida, bringing drenching rains and driving winds to the southeastern U.S. coast, forecasters said. The National Hurricane Center in Miami reported that Beryl made landfall over Duval and northern St. John s counties, with near-hurricane-strength winds of 70 mph (113 kph). "There are strong rain bands that are rotating around the center of the storm..." forecaster Al Sandrik said in an audio statement on the NHC website. The weather system was expected to continue dumping rain over parts of Florida and Georgia on Monday. It was expected to weaken as it moves inland and become a tropical depression by Monday night. Tropical storm warnings were in effect for the entire Georgia coastline, as well as parts of Florida and South Carolina. Florida Gov. Don't count on Russia to force out Assad: US senator

"This administration has a feckless foreign policy which abandons American leadership," McCain said. The U.S. can t count on Russia a major arms supplier to Syria to force President Bashar Assad from power, a U.S. senator said Sunday, blaming President Barack Obama for embracing a "feckless" foreign policy and punting tough decisions until after the November election. It was a particularly sharp rebuke for Sen. John McCain, who as a longtime critic of Obama s foreign policy hasn t pulled many punches. As the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, McCain s viewpoint on complex world events often finds its way into Republican election-year talking points. "This administration has a feckless foreign policy which abandons American leadership," McCain told "Fox News Sunday." "What the conclusion you can draw is that this president wants to kick the can down the road on all of these issues until after the election ... it s really...
